Lo que el tiempo se llevó
What are we most afraid of? / Not knowing what we once were? / Or not being able to bear what we once were?
This is one of the photos from the series ‘Lo que el tiempo se llevó’ (What time brought with it) by Laura Torres Gandía. She took these photos in her home town Vallena (Alicante) in 2007.
“Natalia used to be the beauty of the town, both a secret and platonic love for many. Her hips still maintain the infinite cadence of Garbo and Monroe, whom revolutionised her epoque. It is always difficult to face yourself in the mirror; perhaps even more so when your body used to represent vitality. Even so, it is undeniable that time has brought with it her charms, especially when today - with those legs - she walks alongside me and still turns heads.”
